Today, members of ATL Spurs competed in Soccer in the Streets’ annual ATL Champions League Tournament. This competition is an adult, 7 v. 7 tournament to raise money in support of the free programs Soccer in the Streets provides Atlanta’s youth.
Since 1989, Soccer in the Streets has been leveling the playing field for many of Atlanta’s kids who lack basic opportunities in life. They work with over 4,000 young people each year with their blend of soccer and life skills training, so they can lead positive and vibrant lives!
We at ATL Spurs are proud to be multi-year participants and supporters of such a wonderful charity. We may not have knocked it out of the park on the pitch, but we came in second in funds raised! ATL Spurs raised nearly $6000 for this wonderful youth soccer program and the tournament netted almost $50,000!
We are extremely grateful to Soccer in the Streets, the tournament organizers, and the men and women of our club who helped out both on and off the pitch to make this day a success. Special shout out to our players: Rob Lee, Todd Stone, Alan Vaughan, Matt Gragg, Mandi Sause, David Cole, Shane Walker, Al Albritton, Lacey Delayne, Eric Wilson, Saeed Nobari, and Ingrid Lacey!
ATL Spurs is committed to enacting positive change in our community. Keep your eyes peeled for our next opportunity to make a difference as we partner with the Free99Fridge in November, helping those in our community who need help filling their pantries and fridges.
Here are some highlights from our day in the sun!
